Make Forgiveness Your Friend

In this blog, I share with you a life changing event. It was the time I embraced forgiveness and began living my best life. And if you want to, you can embrace it too!

Make Forgiveness Your Friend

It was 2009, two months after the birth of my son and I had to have my diaphragmatic hernia repaired. I remember feeling quite unsettled before the operation but I knew it was important that I had it repaired.

Two days after surgery, I was still in hospital – not feeling well at all. It turned out that my left lung had totally collapsed. I had been bleeding internally and the built up pressure had caused my lung to give way. I was struggling to breathe. I was scared. I wanted to be around to take care of my son. I had to go in for a second surgery and that frightened me. I was consumed by terrible thoughts. I had so much to live for and I feared I wouldn't make it but I wasn't ready to leave just yet. So I prayed.

Rolling into the operating theatre in my wheelchair, I was frantically racking my brain for a way out of this mess. I couldn't help but wonder why this was happening. Somehow knowing there must be a reason – I searched for the answer.

Feeling totally helpless, I surrendered and asked (to whoever was listening) God, my guardian angels, the Universe, ‘What will it take to ensure I make it out of this situation alive? What is it that I need to know?’

I was prepared to make a deal. I wanted to survive! In that very instant, I received my answer. It was crystal clear. I couldn't believe it! The clarity was undeniable – it was one word and one word only – FORGIVENESS! I had my answer.

I remember thinking 'okay great, got it' and then telling myself that I’d remember my promise and learn to forgive if I made it through the operation.

To this day, I still feel goose bumps when I think about how my love affair with forgiveness began. And if you believe in angels, you'll understand where I'm coming from – that beautiful feeling of being guided and supported by something greater than yourself.

Once I was back at home, learning to be a mum, I started my forgiveness journey. I really didn't know where to begin, however, I was willing and that was all I needed to get started. Over the next couple of years, I read everything I could about forgiveness and from my learnings, I taught myself how to forgive.

11 years have passed since I began my forgiveness journey and it brings me so much joy to teach others how to forgive and share the life-changing impact it can have on your life. From the moment I started sharing my journey, I felt as if I was always meant to teach it – like it was one of the reasons I was put on the earth at this time.

Forgiveness is a beautiful, transformational journey and if you decide to begin, you’ll never look back. I can't imagine my life without it. It’s a tool I use every single day of my life.

Non-forgiveness is toxic and the negative energy often takes a huge toll on your body, mind and spirit.

If you're done holding onto past hurts, all you need is to be willing to begin the forgiveness journey. The rest will be taken care of.

You deserve freedom, happiness and inner peace. So, lovely, decide to make forgiveness your friend today.
